Athanasios Babalis is a product designer based in Thessaloniki, Greece. He first studied Industrial & Furniture Design at the London Metropolitan University and he continued with MA studies in the Royal College of Art in London. He started his professional career as a freelance furniture designer in London and then continued in New York, where he worked for seven years in companies like Dimensional Media Associates Inc. and Dakota Jackson Inc. In 2003, he returned to Thessaloniki, where he established his own design studio, working until today with a wide range of clients. Many of his design projects has been nominated and won awards by international and Greek institutions and companies. Some of these include: the WWWWR awards by the Dieline (USA, 2015) the ΕVGΕ awards (Greece, 2011) the Dieline Αwards packaging design competition (USA, 2010) The British Standards Institute innovation award (UK, 1996) the Royal Society of Arts student design awards (UK, 1994 and 1995) the Ministry of Development packaging design competition (Greece, 2007) an art competition by the Bank of Greece (2007) the first award of the Furnidec-Hellexpo design competition (Greece 1994 and 1995) the first award at the Dromeas furniture design competition (Greece, 2006). He has participated many times in exhibitions in London, Paris, New York, Chicago, St. Etienne, Dubai, Athens and Thessaloniki.
